NC Tube Bending Machines: The “The King of cost performance” Semi-Automatic Bender
In the metal tube fabrication world, a tube bending machine is like a “transformer” for straight pipes — turning them into all kinds of precise shapes. Among them, the NC tube bending machine remains one of the most widely used and cost-effective machines in factories worldwide . Many newcomers get confused when they see “NC” at the end of a model name. What exactly does it mean? STM Saint machinery is the professional manufacturer of NC pipe benders. We have studied pipe bending machines for more than fifteen years. For the NC machines,we have made some new styles. Now let STM engineer explain everything about NC benders in plain language.
1. What Does NC Actually Stand For?
The full name of "NC" is "Numerical Control".The NC machines control bending angle very accurately, but feeding length (Y-axis) and rotation (B-axis) are mostly done manually or with very limited automation.
2. What Does a Typical NC Bender Look Like?
A classic NC tube bender usually consists of:
1) Main frame & bending head:The strongest part that actually curves the tube.
2) Hydraulic system:Almost every NC bender uses a hydraulic cylinder to generate the bending force. Once the pump starts, the cylinder delivers massive torque.
3) Clamping die, pressure die:The two “jaws” that hold and support the tube to prevent wrinkles or collapse.
4) NC control panel:Usually a touchscreen where you can store dozens of programs.
5) Feeding & rotation mechanism (Y-axis / B-axis):In most NC models, these are manual or only lightly assisted (hydraulic/pneumatic push), so the operator must physically advance and rotate the tube between bends.
3. How an NC Bender Works?
1) Operator inserts the tube into the dies and presses start (or foot pedal).
2) Machine automatically clamps and hydraulic cylinder rotates the bending arm to the exact programmed angle.
3) Operator manually rotates the tube to the next angle and pushes it forward to the next length.
4) Press start again and repeat until the whole part is finished.
4.What are the advantages of the NC pipe bending machine?
1) Huge force at low cost:Hydraulic cylinders deliver far more instantaneous torque than servo motors of similar price, perfect for thicker walls and larger diameters.
2) Mature & reliable technology:Hydraulics have been used in tube bending for over 50 years; spare parts are cheap and available everywhere; plenty of technicians know how to fix them.
3) Sturdiness:the factory environment is full of dust and oil stains.Hydraulic systems are harder than pure electric ones.
Providing different pipe processing solutions for more than 10 years, STM is leading to the extraordinary technology and experience in metal processings.
